Actress Betty
White Special Guest at Annual BraveHearts’ Fundraiser
Harvard, IL (May 31, 2012) -- This
August will be particularly hot in Hinsdale when BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding
& Educational Center hosts its annual fundraiser with special guest, friend
and supporter, actress Betty White. The event will take place on Saturday,August 18, at Ruth Lake Country Club.
This full-fledged night of red hot fun will applaud and
support the efforts of BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and honor longtime
supporter and animal lover Betty White. Ms. White is currently the proud
sponsor of one of the therapy horses at BraveHearts, named “Baby".
The seven-time Emmy-award
winner is best known for her roles as Sue Ann Nivens in “The Mary Tyler Moore
Show” and Rose Nylund in “The Golden Girls.” Her fan base continues to grow
with the popularity of her 2010 Super Bowl commercial and hosting of Saturday
Night Live. She is currently starring as Elka in the TVLand sitcom “Hot in
Cleveland”. As if that’s not enough,
Betty is also the star and executive producer of “Off Their Rockers” on NBC.
Ms. White is equally well known
for her tireless efforts in support of animal health and welfare.
“BraveHearts is a program unlike any other,” said Laurie Johnson,
BraveHearts’ board member and Western Springs resident. “I've witnessed
the impact that it has on the children and veterans it serves and it is
incredible and truly life-changing. Having Betty White support our
program highlights the quality of the program, the people involved and the
undeniable connection between horses and individuals with special needs.
We are thrilled to have Betty join us again this year."
BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding &Educational Center has been providing therapeutic horseback riding to children
and adults with special needs since 2003.
Each week, BraveHearts welcomes 100 participants from as far as 100
miles away. Children and adults with special needs come to BraveHearts to
discover hope, joy and
unlimited possibilities through the healing power of the horse.
In 2007, BraveHearts expanded its programs to
include therapeutic carriage driving. That same year, BraveHearts began
offering equine activities and therapies to wounded military veterans.
BraveHearts’ veterans program is now nationally recognized as the largest by
numbers in the country.
